Security Operations Center

The Security Operations Center (SOC) is comprised of civilian, unarmed staff tasked with monitoring the university’s extensive security camera system. The SOC is a 24/7/365 operation; staff actively monitor approximately 450 cameras. The staff also have access to more than 1,200 additional camera feeds. Cameras are located in the interior and exterior of campus buildings, and in various locations in the City of College Park. 

SOC staff are tasked with proactive and reactive services designed to both prevent crime and respond to crime that has already occurred. They also review recorded video in response to requests from officers investigating crimes or other incidents. Additionally, SOC staff monitor the fire alarm systems in academic, administrative and residential buildings.
