Records
The Records Unit retains, processes, and distributes all police records relating to arrests, reported incidents, traffic citations, collision reports, and other paperwork issued by agency officers.
Records personnel maintain a computerized Records Management System and review incident reports, arrest/civil charges, traffic citations, and accident reports. Records personnel also prepare a monthly Uniform Crime Report for the FBI using the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) based on the reviewed police reports.
Office of the Chief
The Office of the Chief is responsible for the following functions: agency leadership, budget and financial services, project and grant management, planning and research, internal affairs coordination, public information, and Clery Act compliance.
Logistics
The Logistics Unit is responsible for the storage and control of agency equipment, evidence handling, and retrieval of property.

Threat Assessment Program
UMPD has an active, ongoing Threat Assessment Program (TAP) in which trained personnel conduct criminal and administrative investigations into concerning, disruptive, and threatening behavior reported to UMPD and the UMD Behavior Evaluation and Threat Assessment Team (BETA).

The Information Technology Unit (IT) is composed of civilian staff who serve the department and campus with the following primary functions: Technology Support, Systems Administration, Security Administration, Programming, Geographical Information Systems & Mapping, and Database Administration.
