Remembering Retired Explosives Detection K-9 Pink

It is with a very heavy heart that we share that retired K-9 Pink crossed over the rainbow bridge on January 23, 2025. Pink passed peacefully after a long and healthy life into old age. K-9 Pink served the University of Maryland community from 2012-2021, and once retired, spent her days with her handler, Cpl. John Fitzgerald, and his family. Thank you for your service, Pink. We love you and will miss you dearly. Rest easy, sweet Pink.

Clery Act Statistics

Clery Act statistics list Clery reportable crimes occurring in specific locations as defined by the Clery Act. This includes on campus locations, non-campus buildings/property owned or controlled by the University, and public property immediately adjacent to the campus. The statistics are gathered from UMPD and local law enforcement agencies, Campus Security Authorities (CSAs), and other confidential resources.

Clery Act Info & Reports

Originally known as the Campus Security Act, the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is the landmark federal law that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. The law is tied to an institution's participation in federal student financial aid programs, and it applies to most institutions of higher education both public and private.
