UMPD Conducts Sobriety Checkpoint

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the University of Maryland Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in support of our effort to crackdown on impaired driving in the College Park area. The checkpoint will be conducted from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., near the University of Maryland campus. For questions regarding this press release, please contact the Public Information Officer, Lt. Follow-Up In Off-Campus Incident

On May 15, 2026, at approximately 2:36 p.m., the University of Maryland Police Department responded to Lakeland Road and Rhode Island Avenue to assist the Prince George’s County Police Department for the sound of gunfire. Once officers were on scene, information was gathered from a witness that verified the incident.

UMPD Seeks Community’s Help in McKeldin Library Incidents

College Park, MD – The person pictured above is the suspect in the February 12, 2026, indecent exposure, the March 25, 2026, voyeur incident, and the April 27, 2026, indecent exposure. The incidents occurred inside restrooms located on the 6th and 7th floors of McKeldin Library.

Child Car Seat Check this Saturday

On Saturday, April 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the University of Maryland Police Department will host a Child Car Seat Check at the Pocomoke Building (7569 Baltimore Avenue, College Park, Maryland 20742). This is a free service and is available to anyone. A certified child safety seat technician will assist you with installing and provide guidance on the proper use of your child safety seat.
