Micromobility Traffic Safety
What is Micromobility?
Electric micromobility devices include scooters, bicycles, skateboards and other devices that are battery powered and designed to be ridden by a person for transportation.
Did you know...
In Maryland Traffic Law, a micromobility device, such as an e-scooter, is subject to the same laws as a bicycle (Transportation Article 11-104).
So, what does that mean for me?
Micromobility riders need to obey the rules of the road (Transportation Article 21-1202). This includes operating in the roadway, stopping at stop signs, not operating on the sidewalk, and more.

All privately owned electric micromobility devices and bicycles must be registered. Learn more at the Department of Transportation Services website.
