UMD Guardian App

Guardian is a rapid and proactive safety tool used by UMD students, faculty and staff.

With UMD Guardian, you can transform your cell phone into a personal safety device and create a virtual safety network of ‘guardians’ (friends, family, and/or UMPD).

With Guardian enabled, you can: 

• Walk with ease across campus, by sharing your location with your guardian while walking
• Place an emergency call to UMPD and share your location
• Text a tip to UMPD

UMD Guardian is a campus-specific version of the Rave Guardian app. 

Instructions:

• Install the Rave Guardian app, available on the Apple App and Google Play stores
• Ensure location and notifications are enabled
• Follow the registration procedure, using your:
  • Mobile device number
  • UMD-issued email address (@umd.edu; @terpmail.umd.edu; @mail.umd.edu)
  • Any details (health, special needs, family contacts, etc.) to provide to 911 operators during an emergency
• Sign in
• Set up personal guardians and more
