INCIDENT: Suspicious Activity OCCURRED: February 17, 2025/ Approximately 2:22 a.m. LOCATION: Eastbound University Boulevard before Metzerott Road, College Park, Maryland UMPD CASE #: 2025-36749 BRIEF DETAILS: On February 17, 2025, at approximately 2:22 a.m., the University of Maryland Police Department (UMPD) responded to the area of eastbound University Boulevard before Metzerott Road for the sound of gunfire.

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and security at the University of Maryland, we continue to look for partnerships to help aid in our crime prevention efforts. Thanks to Hyundai Motor America, we are able to provide free steering wheel locks to Hyundai and Kia owners.

On December 4, 2024, at approximately 12:51 p.m., an armed carjacking was reported the University of Maryland Police Department that occurred by the Manokin Building, which is located at 5801 University Research Court, by River Road. This prompted a series of UMD text alerts to be sent to our university community.
