Toys for Tots Drive 2021

UMPD and Maryland Athletics are partnering up for the annual Toys for Tots drive. Donations from this drive go directly to families of Prince George’s County. Fans attending the December 5, men’s basketball game against Northwestern and/or the women’s basketball game versus Purdue on December 8, can donate a new, unwrapped children’s toy.

Lights On! Partners with the University of Maryland Police Department to Bring Mission to Campus Community

An update from Lights On! (posted on UMPD News on 07/22/2025): We are suspending all Lights On! program operations effective immediately. For nearly a decade, Lights On! has worked to build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve by replacing equipment violation tickets with free repair vouchers. This program has helped low-income drivers stay on the road legally and safely—and changed thousands of lives.
